Katherine is the Executive Director of the Educopia Institute, a not-for-profit educational organization that empowers collaborative communities to create, share, and preserve knowledge. She is the founding program director for the MetaArchive Cooperative and played a founding role in the Library Publishing Coalition, the BitCurator Consortium, and Software Preservation Network. Katherine received her Ph.D. in American Studies from Emory University and regularly teaches graduate courses and workshops in digital librarianship and preservation topics. She also provides consultation services on community cultivation, sustainability, scholarly communications, and digital preservation topics.
